What is Bachelor of engineering?

A bachelor's degree in engineering provides students with the fundamental engineering training they need to start exciting careers in the engineering field.

When it comes to career options, engineers seem to have endless opportunities. They work in manufacturing, health care, financial institutions, consulting services, energy, agricultural and environmental research, education and government—to name just a few areas. Not to mention, a bachelor degree in engineering provides a foundation for graduate-level engineering study, as well as degrees in law, medicine and business.

The Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng. or BE) is an academic degree achieved for undergraduate studies in one of the Engineering Sciences. It takes 3-4 years to graduate a B.Eng. degree.

What is bachelor technology (B Tech) ?

Bachelor of Technology (BTech) is a professional undergraduate engineering degree programme awarded to candidates after the completion of four years of study in the field. Engineering is one of the most popular courses in India and there are many institutes that offer the course to aspiring students. For admissions, the most common BTech entrance examination is JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Along with these national level entrance examinations, there are many state and private level examinations that the students can attempt for admissions. The basic eligibility criteria for BTech is 10+2th standard with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, however, there are additional criteria in every entrance exam and institute.

List of BTech Specialisations

BTech degree is offered across various specialisations. Some of the more prominent ones are as follows:

  • 1 . Computer Science Engineering
  • 2 . Mechanical Engineering
  • 3 . Chemical Engineering
  • 4 . Aerospace Engineering
  • 5 . Civil Engineering

What is the difference between a BE and BTech degree?

Difference between BE and BTech

BE

BTech

BE is more theoretical and knowledge oriented. It is a study based on theory.

B.Tech is skill/data-oriented. The course is more of application engineering.

The course deals with engineering aspects of Science

The course deals with the technical aspects of Science

The course is applied to develop innovative equipment and useful technical gadgets in Science and Technology.

The course applies the principles of engineering and technology to modify structures and thereby enhance their quality.

Note :- Both BE and B.Tech degrees offer students an opportunity to pursue a career in Engineering. The courses are of a duration of 4-years and are spread across 8 semesters.

There are typically two kinds of an engineering programme:

1. 3-year BE/B.Tech after Diploma in Engineering

2. 4-year BE/B.Tech after Class 12

Eligibility Criteria for BE/BTech

  • 1. Candidates must have passed Class 10+2 exam from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects.
  • 2. They must also have secured minimum aggregate marks of 60% in the above subjects combined.
  • 3. Most admissions are done based on the student's performance in the entrance examination.

Note :- Please note that the BTech eligibility criteria would vary from institute to institute.
